Nordic Focus on Competitiveness and Security

The Nordic business organizations want to see an increased focus on green competitiveness, security, and well-functioning labor markets. This is evident from a new joint declaration.

The Nordic business organizations met in Iceland to finalize the so-called Reykjavik Declaration.

In the so-called Reykjavik Declaration, the Nordic business organizations have presented common positions. These include reducing the regulatory burden on companies, protecting the European internal market, increasing public and private investments in research and innovation, and creating a better investment climate in Europe.

Additionally, the Nordic business organizations want to ensure that Europe has a stable, secure, and clean energy system. They also call for continued support for Ukraine, strengthening the business climate in the EU, and ensuring NATO as a guarantor of Nordic security. Going forward, they also want to see increased respect for national labor market models and an improvement in skills provision.

– The Nordic cooperation is more important than ever. That we can jointly agree on important issues such as labor markets, energy supply, and enhanced competitiveness is crucial for the business sector, says Charlotte Andersdotter, head of the Swedish Enterprise EU Office in Brussels.
