POSITION PAPER2 February 2022

Anti coercion instrument – views from Swedish Enterprise

RECIPIENT
European Commission

The European Commission has unveiled its proposal for a so-called anti-coercion instrument (ACI). In our view, this proposal might have far-reaching consequences since it would enable the Commission to deploy a range of measures against countries who seen as coercing the EU, its member states or European interests in general.

Although we see the need to this instrument, we want to urge for caution in developing it so that is does not become too powerful, which could be detrimental to businesses trading globally.
